How to make a sideboard for the dining room look good and match your kitchen cabinets !
Supplies Needed:
220 Grit Sandpaper
Wood filler
Primer Paint
Cabinet Paint
Spray Paint in Brushed Nickel for cabinet hardware
Step 1: Remove all cabinet hardware
Step 2: Use wood filler to fill any dings and or scratches that you would not like to see. This cabinet is old and had a lot of previous breaks and repairs so I decided to use wood filler to fill in where the cabinet screws were and dings to the top as pictured below and let dry according to directions on the wood filler you use.
Step 3: Using 220 grit sand paper sand your surfaces where wood filler was to even it out and to make the surface rough so that the new paint will adhere to the surface.
Step 4: Paint your surface with a good primer coat of paint. I used Killz for this project.
Step 5: Paint with your cabinet enamel paint. I used 3 coats of paint.
Step 6: Spray paint your hardware with whatever color paint you would like the hardware. I chose to use a satin nickel color to match the other hardware I have in the house.
Step 7: Re-attach hardware after your paint has cured.
